Absolutely fantastic professor! Probably the only mortal being who could make 30 inexperienced students excited about phonology at 8am on a Monday morning. You learn so much while barely realising it because of the quality of teaching and the learning materials. His passion for his field really translates in his teaching and to his students, and he is always ready to answer any questions or help students look further into areas they find interesting.

Erich is tireless and hard-working when it comes to his students. His teaching style is such that it gives you an in-depth understanding of the subject, in a way that the assignments complement the classes rather than simply teaching to the test (if that makes sense). You can tell he is very passionate about what he is teaching. Very prompt assignment returns. he always comes up with great ways to get involved in things we're learning outside the classroom. Always willing to meet and have a chat about any concerns his students might have. He's hands down the best professor I've had at UQ.
